Birds in the Tree

1. We will find a little nest
In the branches of a tree.
Let us count the eggs inside;
There are one, two, three.

2. Mother bird sits on the nest
To hatch the eggs, all three.
Father bird flies round and round
To guard his family.

Actions:
Nest: Cup hands together.
Tree: Hold arms up rounded over head.
One, two, three: Hold up one, two, and three fingers.
Sits on the nest: Cup left hand; place right hand on top.
Flies: Move arms in flying motion.

Words: Glenna Tate Holbrook, b. 1925.

End of School

At the start of the year pencils are long sharp and have erasers.

Eliza

She is a sitter and scooter. When I put her down on the floor she will turn 360's and scoot for a toy. I have seen her get her knees underneath and lung forward! So crawling is not far away. She is happier on solid foods and will pick up and eat puffs. Clara played peek a boo with her the other night and it was oh so darling.

Duet

John can actually play quite well holding Eliza. She pounds some notes in too! John's tenderness and attention to her is literally music to my ears. I predict a beautiful duet someday.

Mud

Mud is very nice to feel
   All squishy-squash between the toes!
I’d rather wade in wiggly mud
   Than smell a yellow rose.

Nobody else but the rosebush knows
How nice mud feels
   Between the toes

The Cloths of Heaven

Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light;
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Washington DC

We visited Thomas, Andrew and Ben. They are doing well. Joseph and Brigham are doing well too! We enjoyed the Air and Space Museum, the Botanical Gardens, Sculpture garden Library of Congress, and other monuments and museums.
 Kristen hung out with me the first two days. She was so kind to go along with my agenda. I loved getting to know her more. I love that she is friends with my dear Mary Anne.
We also walked to the nearest church building for sacrament meeting on Sunday. I believe Capital Hill First Ward. It is worth mentioning because I was so impressed with their mothers room! They had a beautiful lamp that set the mood, a plant, throw blankets on the chairs, and it smelled so nice. What a conscientious women that made that space better! I want to be like her!
I love Washington DC! Mostly free and so educational.

Blueberrie Pie Again, and Again and Again

Kelly's birthday blueberry pie this year was as tasty as ever. It never gets old. He also got his beloved cheesecake this year too. What a lucky guy! We are so glad he is ours and want him to be so happy.
This is a link to last year. This is a link to the year 2014. It has the link to other years.

Jumping Back

In the whirlwind of the last couple of months these photos slipped through the cracks. It was a beautiful spring day of climbing trees, photographing, and picking paint colors. I asked Margaret which pink she liked the best. She waved her hand and said "All of them!!"  Wasn't that a silly question?
