Frisbee Park

It was such a lovely day and it begged us to be out in it. We have to make the most of it before it is too cold. In addition we needed to get out of the house so Kelly could sleep. I need an excuse to take photos. Finally, maybe we needed a rest from fall leaves? So, there are many good reasons. I am delighted with them all.
We headed 3 min up the road and unexpectedly walked to a Frisbee golf course. Telling Kelly about it later he mentioned that he heard it was very difficult. It looked very challenging. If you missed you would have a giant hill to comb over. We spent a little time playing Simon Says in order to practice staying together.   The views were spacious; full of yellow and blue.

City Creek Trail Again

We went on another incredible walk but this time with Kelly! He has been working nights. Doable but Not our favorite. Honestly I am just eating up the fall leaves. I want to go again.

Denning's Visit

We are so glad that the Lauren and her boys came to visit. We took a walk up city creek in the rain. The children woke up early and read books. We had an unusual breakfast of German pancakes. Then did some open ended art. Quickly we headed out to meet the Mayo's at the Swore Corn Maze. It was a fun maze but John dear got separated from us. Tears were shed and a nice man guided him out. All's well that ends well. We are so glad Lauren and the boys could come.

The Hills

Are alive with the sound of music with songs they have sung for a thousand years. The hills fill My heart with the sound of music. My heart wants to sing every song it hears.
We have been having some beautiful days here lately.

City Creek Trail

Despite the pouty lips John actually had a great time. He climbed up a big hill four or five time and raced down it as fast as he could. Margaret stayed close to me and was a little touchy.  Clara and John wrote there names in the dirt and made towers. It was a gorgeous walk after school! I can't believe I just found this trail for the first time.

Piet Mondrian

Mondrian was a Neo-Plastics of the early twentieth century. This photograph reminded me of his Composition with Yellow, Blue and Red.

Quite Reading

The advice" If children are given a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes per day to read books of their own choosing, standardized test scores should increase, on average, 20 percent." was giving to me when I was just a new mother. With that in mind and a desire of my own to have peace and quite we have for about a year now had Quiet Reading. Clara and John can recite to rules.
No Talking
No Getting Up
One Book at a Time
Read Happily
At the early stages we started with three minutes. Over time we worked our way up. I think 17 min stuck for a bit. Now we are 25 min plus and often times the timer goes off and they don't notice and read for another 10 min or so.  It is so tranquil.
This little photo op was not during real quite reading, so I was not breaking the rules!

Clara's Pony Heart Dress

I remember Patti blogging once about how her family would take pictures right before church. Good advice! I feel like I am more prepared and can settle in better. It is nice to see Clara and Margaret do a photo shoot together. Clara can be as sweet as an angel. Margaret is, well, a toddler. I think we all know what that means.

Our New Horse

The title is  deceptive. Alas, it is a toy. All the same we are glad to have him. This is one of our other horses. They will be friends.
