The Caterpiller

By Christina Rossetti

Brown and furry
Caterpillar in a hurry,
Take your walk
To the shady leaf, or stalk,
Or what not,
Which may be the chosen spot.
No toad spy you,
Hovering bird of prey pass by you;
Spin and die,
To live again a butterfly.

Only Boy

Before Eliza was born John and I talked once and briefly about how we were hoping for a boy. I mentioned the possibility that the baby might be a girl. He was so good natured about it and said "If the baby is a girl that will be ok." and that was the end of it. Well Eliza turned out to be a girl as we can see. When we told John that it would be a girl he kindly said "Oh. Well. That is ok." and that was the end of it again. But as time went by he heard more and more people mention that he was going to be the only boy. They mad it seem like a bad thing that he was going to have a bunch of sisters and that he wouldn't have a brother. By the time Eliza was three months old it was John that was mentioning in a dejected way, that he was the only boy.
The truth of it is that John is not suffering. He loves his sisters dearly. And they love him in return. John is ever so sweet to Eliza and continually wants to hold and entertain her. He plays with Clara so well. John reads daily to Margaret and generally have a great time together.
The first photograph is of John drawing the picture below of Eliza. I think he captured her well.
The third is of Clara and John collaborating on a card for Kelly and me.
The next is a napkin that I found lying around.
The last is the mobile that John helped me make for Eliza.
I hope the commenting will go away with time but it is possible it won't. We don't get to choose our siblings but In the end I am glad that I know his first real and true feelings. They are inclusion, kindness, and love. What a boy!

6 Months

She is still a cute little thing but she is growing and changing. She is eating solid food and likes cream of wheat flavored with fruit baby food. She can pass on object from one hand to the other. She can roll over from her tummy to her back. She laughs and sometimes sounds like she wants to talk. She is happiest when she is held or getting her diaper changed. The yellow blanket she is on is the blanket Grandma Dorothy made for me when I was a baby!

Red Poppy

Disney World

We took a trip to Florida for my Sister-in-Law Julee's wedding. It was so lovely and it was an honor to be apart of it. We are all so happy for her and Brian. I know that marriage is so wonderful. I love being married!  I left my camera at the hotel the day of the wedding so sadly I don't have any photos of that event but these are from the other days of the trip.  Kelly, Eliza and I had a lot of first on our trip to Florida. Eliza's first time in an airplane. Kelly's first time in a monorail. My first time in a limousine and a taxi. It was nice to be with Joe, Carl, and Kent in Magic Kingdom and fun to run into other wedding party members in Epcot. Overall so nice and great.

Her Early Leafs a Flower

Bigger

The chicks are getting bigger. I have learned a lot about chickens in the last several weeks. I know more learning will come. When the chicks would stand on John's leg he would laugh so hard. I enjoy watching them and I do so hope that they will not get eaten by a cat or a badger will try to open the coop. Both of these are stories I have heard of happening in the last few weeks!

Four!

Margaret is four! Wow. This girl is so fun and growing more and more capable every day. She started her birthday off with a new little 4T outfit and three inches of beautiful snow.  After we dropped of Clara and John at school we headed to see her new baby kitten. She thoughtfully named it "Cinderella." Very appropriate for a dear little four year old. Cinderella didn't come home because it is two weeks old and still with the Mom. She also got a four tiered cake because this girl is four! Aunt Brandy gave her a bag that has her name on it and she is keeping her new Kitten Calico Critters in it because that is just where a four year old would put her toys.  She cares about people and is gentile. She is also a great sharer. We love Margaret so much.

Zion

Zion this year was nice. Not as much time in the park as I hoped but still just what I like. Family, picnic and beauty all around. We were worried it would be cold but the weather was a nice as you would ask for, as long as you were dry. It was fun to see little Annie playing with her toes, Clara helping Grandpa with the tarp and Margaret sitting by Uncle Mike. The taco salad, baked beans, maple cake and bunny cookies filled and satisfied. Zion is always the place I like to be for Easter.

Egg Hunt

We had the Easter egg hunt at Grandmas this year. The day before we worked on bunny cookies and dying eggs.
