Italy Day 8

 

San Gimignano had amazing views. I slept till we got to Sienna and felt like I never settled in but fun to hear about the horse races.  Driving through Tuscany was wonderful. And getting the car back to Florence was exciting and down to the wire.  

 

Italy Day 7

 Pisa was wonderful. Wonderful because we went to church with and were able to eat with Maurizio and Carla. We love them so much. Church felt so familiar and comfortable. It was nice to walk with Maurizio around the tower and surprising to see some of the sights not free anymore. 

Italy Day 6

In Ravenna we saw wonderful mosaics. I have anew appreciation for them. The highlight being a chapel that had temple elements. It was fun to see families on bicycles. On our way back we stopped off in Bologna to eat some food. It was a very interesting city with its grunge feel and porticos. I was glad to be exposed to it.

Italy Day 5

The David was amazing especially after seeing all the statues at the Vatican. I found the Uffizi much changed but I am sure it is for security measures. Kelly missed out on climbing up on top of the Duomo. It was a regret and disappointment. We ate lunch at the traditional lunch cafeteria. That lasagna was so good!
